Centre okays plan to assess impact of climate change

AMID all-round criticism from environmentalists for ignoring sensitive green issues under new environment minister M Veerappa Moily, the government has approved a pending Rs 290 crore scheme to build capacity at both central and state levels to assess impact of climate change in vulnerable areas and associated risks. Besides, it also cleared a proposal to set up an institute on climate change studies in the name of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
