Overlap and duplication between requirements under the REACH chemicals regulation and other EU legislation is causing a compliance nightmare for some manufacturers, a BASF conference in Brussels heard on Sept. 6. British Conservative Member of the European Parliament Julie Girling was the first to raise the issue, highlighting problems with the priority substances in water legislation under the water framework directive.
