China Imports First US Crude in 40 Years

China last month imported its first cargo of US crude in 40 years, following Washington’s decision late last year to lift longstanding restrictions on crude exports (PIW Dec.21’15). The 42,000 ton (307,000 bbl) cargo of sour crude arrived May 7 at the port of Zhanjiang and was processed by state Sinopec at its 400,000 b/d Maoming refinery in the southern province of Guangdong.
