Opec faces strains of pro rata cuts

The immediate focus of attention is Opec's attempt to secure non-Opec Cooperation in a concerted production cutback from Jan.1,2002.But don't lose sight of the potential difficulties emeriging for relations among Opec members themselves as production ceilings continue to come down.Thouth it is improving,compliance with the cuts of 3.5 million barrels per day agreed upon so far this year was still 824,000 d/d over the target last month.To date,teh new veneer of Opec solidarity has not cracke dunder the strain.
