PROSPECTS for the oilfield services sector remain blighted by a depressed North American market. But signs of recovery in that region and a more buoyant business elsewhere in the world are giving some cause for optimism. The third-quarter reporting season revealed the extent to which the downturn in the energy sector and reduced margins, because of over-capacity, have affected the big players over the last year.
