Norway Total discovered oil in its Garantiana prospect, 30 km northeast of the Visund field in the North Sea. The 34/6-2S well flowed 4,300 b/d and was sidetracked for further information. Total estimates that Garantiana holds 25-75 million barrels recoverable, and there are other prospects close by. Interests are Total, 40%, Det Norske Oljeselskap. 20%, Bridge Energy, 20% and Svenska Petroleum, 20%.
