QUEENSLAND has been exploiting methane trapped in seams within its large coal reserves for several decades.But the development of coal-seam gas(CSG)has accelerated in the last decade,as the search for cleaner energy supplies to cut dependence on coal has intensified.According to the Queensland government,CSG,of which over 157bn cubic metres of proved and probable reserves had been certified by end-2007,will supply about 70% of the state's gas requirements by 2010.
