Gorgon LNG: Japan deals put the squeeze on CNOOC

THE CHEVRON-led Gorgon LNG (liquefied natural gas) project has now tied up long-term gas-sales contracts for more than half of its planned 10m tonnes a year (t/y) start-up output.The project group,which also includes Shell and ExxonMobil,signed a 25-year supply deal in late November with Japan's Chubu Electric Power (Cepco) for 1.5m Vy,starting in 2010.It follows a similar deal to supply Tokyo Gas with 1.2m Vy.
