Anadarko starts up Lucius oil field

US independent Anadarko has started production from the deepwater Lucius oil field in the US Gulf of Mexico. Output is expected to peak at over 80,000 b/d of oil equivalent (boe/d), but the platform is designed to handle 80,000 b/d of liquids and 450mn ft3/d (4.64bn m3/yr) of natural gas. The 300mn ft3/d Hadrian South gas field, operated by ExxonMobil, will make use of spare capacity on the platform when it starts up early this year. Ana- darko operates Lucius with a 28pc interest (WPA, 7 February, p4).
