Opec production edged lower last month and more member states are urging output restraint to buoy prices. The group’s total production fell by 50,000 b/d to 31.55mn b/d in August from July, led by declines in Angola and Iraq (see table). But this did little to halt a decline in crude markets - prices ended August below those at the end of July.
