Majors join mid-Atlantic exploration revival

BP has farmed into a deepwater salt basin offshore Morocco held by US independent Kosmos Energy, fuelling industry interest in the northwest African offshore. BP says the 26,000km2 acreage shares conjugate features with its acreage offshore Nova Scotia, Canada, and plans to drill its first well in the area next year. BP’s move comes after Chevron signed deals with Morocco’s national office for hydrocarbons and mines in January, accessing three offshore areas totalling 29,000km~2 and at water depths of up to 4,500m.
