Opec’s July output rose by 170,000 b/d on June,buoyed by higher Libyan pro-duction and a rise in Saudi Arabia’s output to meet peak summer demand. Libya’s July output increased by 180,000 b/d on the month,despite esca-lating violence in the country,after production was restored at the 340,000 b/d Esharara field(see p3).Fighting in Tripoli and Benghazi—Libya’s biggest cities—is not affecting production, state-owned NOC says.Iraq’s July output remained stable,with its south-ern fields producing all the crude con-sumed and exported by the parts of Iraq controlled by the central government.
