Obama allies block Iran resolution

US president Barack Obama’s allies in the Senate on 10 September blocked the Republican-controlled Congress from passing legislation to reject the Iran nuclear deal. A group of 42 Democrats and independents prevented Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell from calling a vote on a resolution of disapproval.
