Shell’s US GTL project inches forward

Shell is edging closer to a North American gas-to-liquids (GTL) project. The company plans to work with officials in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, to develop a $12.5bn, 140,000 b/d GTL plant consuming 13.3bn m3/yr of natural gas from the US’ booming shale sector. The facility will produce GTL products including low-sulphur diesel and jet fuel capable of meeting tightening sulphur standards in the US (WPA, 15 November, p2).
