PdV delays Mariscal Sucre project

Venezuela’s state-owned PdV has pushed back the projected completion of the first stage of its Mariscal Sucre offshore non-associated natural gas project to October 2018 because of per-sistent funding shortfalls. Mariscal Sucre’s first stage was originally sched-uled to be producing up to 900mn ft3/d (9.3bn m3/yr) of gas by 2012. But first production of 300mn ft3/d from Mariscal Sucre’s Dragon field is now projected to start in the second half of 2014, doubling to 600mn ft3/d by the end of 2016. Mariscal Sucre’s first stage will reach peak design capacity of 900mn ft3/d in 2018 with the incorpora-tion of 300mn ft3/d of gas from the Patao field located near the Dragon field.
