Shell gets permit for arctic oil drilling

Shell is getting its first opportunity to learn if its $6bn investment to explore in US arctic waters will pay off. The US Interior Department’s Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement on 17 August awarded Shell the final permit that it needs to drill an exploration well in the Chukchi Sea off Alaska’s north coast.
