Oil prices rose as refiners lifted output ahead of winter, although Hurricane Sandy in the US northeast diverted surplus products from the Gulf coast to global markets. Atlantic basin marker North Sea Dated gained $1.62/bl to reach $109.04/bl on 1 November. US benchmark WTI gained $1.04/bl to reach $87.09/bl, lifted in part by an unex- pected drop in US crude stocks when hurricane delayed inventory data emerged.
