Iraq GDP growth to accelerate—IMF

The IMF expects Iraq’s GDP to grow by over 6pc this year,on oil production of 3.2mn b/d and exports of 2.6mn b/d. The country’s GDP grew by 4.2pc in 2013,although oil production and exports,of 3.08mn b/d and 2.38mn b/d, respectively,were below projections, the IMF says.Lower than expected oil revenues and higher spending pres-sures,mostly attributable to“the diffi-cult security situation”,weighed on Iraq’s 2013 fiscal performance,increas-ing the budget deficit to 6pc of GDP.
