Robert Douglas Lawler has been appointed chief executive at US inde- pendent Chesapeake Energy, effective from mid-June. Lawler is currently senior vice-president of international and deepwater operations at US upstream firm Anadarko Petroleum. Chesapeake’s co-founder and previous chief executive Aubrey McClendon stepped down in April.
