Extensions to the timeline of Algeria’s new exploration licensing round suggest weak interest in the blocks on offer, but the government continues to project optimism. Bidding in the country’s licensing round will open on 4 September, instead of 6 August as originally envisaged, and the signing of contracts has been postponed to 2 October from 5 September, domestic upstream regulator Alnaft says. Meetings with potential bidders on contractual terms ended on 12 June, with draft contracts to be finalised by 15 July (WPA,24 January,p3).
