Sanctions hit Russian pipeline firm

Russian state-controlled Gazprom sub-sidiary Tsentrgaz will replace privately owned Russian construction firm Stroi-transgaz as lead contractor to build Bulgaria’s 500km section of the South Stream gas pipeline.Tsentrgaz will also build South Stream’s Serbian section. Stroitransgaz,which won a tender in May to build Bulgaria’s South Stream section,and its owner Russian busi-nessmen Gennady Timchenko are on a US sanctions list(WPA,1 August,p2).
