Oil price fall tempers Mexican licensing launch

Mexico kicked off its first licensing round on 11 December, with 14 shallow-water blocks in the Gulf of Mexico. The government made adjustments to the first round in the weeks leading up to the launch to reflect the sharp drop in oil prices since mid-2014. The round was planned initially for the end of November. The new price environment means firms will be “more selective” when deciding where to invest, energy minister Joaquin Coldwell says.
