Yamal LNG to rethink financing

The consortium behind Russia’s Yamal LNG development is to review its pro-ject financing scheme after leading shareholder Russian independent gas producer Novatek appeared on a US sanctions list(WPA,1 August,p2). Partners Novatek(60pc),Total (20pc)and China’s state-owned CNPC (20pc)might have to increase the share of funding coming from their own resources,given that they will now struggle to secure 70pc of the projected $27bn cost from loans,as initially planned,Novatek chairman and co-owner Leonid Mikhelson says.
