Black Sea feels the Domino effect

ExxonMobil has resumed drilling in the Romanian Black Sea to assess the size and commercial viability of its heralded Domino deepwater gas discovery. The company has started a second well in the Neptun Deep block,where it found an estimated 42bn-84bn m3of gas in 2012(WPA,24 February 2012,p10).ExxonMobil and its partner,Austrian firm OMV’s Petrom subsidiary, expect to invest up to$1bn during the latest exploration phase including a seismic survey completed last year and possible further drilling next year.Production from the block could start by 2020 if drilling goes to plan,helping to ease Romania’s reliance on Russian gas imports.
