Ghana’s upstream development may be delayed by its maritime border dispute with Ivory Coast. An international border tribunal on 25 April ordered Ghana to ensure that no new drilling takes place in waters disputed with its neighbour. Ivory Coast asked the Germanybased International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (Itlos) to stop oil activities at nine oil blocks awarded by Ghana in contested waters. The claim includes the 80,000 b/d Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme (Ten) oil development in the Deepwater Tano block, which London-listed upstream company Tullow Oil will operate (WPA, 6 March, p6).
