Shell delays Bab sour gas

A final investment decision on Shell’s $10bn Bab sour gas project in Abu Dhabi has been pushed back by a year to 2017. Shell signed an initial 40:60 joint-venture agreement with stateowned Adnoc in 2013. But even before lower oil prices forced a rethink of high-cost, technically difficult developments such as Bab, the project had been delayed by seemingly insurmountable differences between Shell and Abu Dhabi over gas prices.
