Strong production growth helped Spanish oil company Repsol bounce back from the renationalisation of its Argentinian subsidiary YPF last year. Profit excluding inventory effects was 5pc higher than 2011 at ?2.05bn ($2.68bn). Repsol's upstream output, exclud- ing YPF, was up by 11pc on 2011 at 332,000 b/d of oil equivalent (boe/d). The return of the company's Libyan production in late 2011 and the start- up of the first phase of the Margarita gas field in Bolivia in the second quar- ter of last year drove the increase. Production reached 360,000 boe/d in January this year, putting Repsol on track to hit its target of 10pc output growth in 2013. The firm is aiming for 500,000 boe/d in 2016. More than 200,000 boe/d of that will come from 10 new pro- jects and joint ventures, half of which are already producing.
