Itera takeover helps Rosneft replace reserves

Russian state-controlled producer Rosneft achieved a reserves replacement ratio of 131pc last year, according to an independent audit released this week. But this rise largely reflects gas additions, while crude additions were modest. Proven oil and gas reserves increased by 8pc to 19.03bn bl of oil equivalent (boe) under SEC classifications, the audit by US petroleum consultancy DeGolyer and MacNaughton reveals. But crude reserves are up by just 2.1pc, while gas reserves rose by 33pc following Rosneft’s purchase of a 51pc stake in former independent gas producer Itera last year (WPA, 10 August, p10).
