PDO's oil recovery plans face gas challenge

The proportion of crude that Oman pro- duces from gas-intensive enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods has risen as oil output has increased. But with limited sources of conventional gas in the coun- try and growing demand, the challenge for the Shell-led, state-controlled PDO consortium, which produces 70pc of Oman's crude, is how to increase oil output while reducing the amount of gas used in EOR projects.
