Anadarko, Eni sign Mozambique deal

US independent Anadarko Petroleum and Italian oil company Eni agreed last month to co-ordinate development of their gas resources in the Rovuma basin offshore Mozambique for a joint LNG project. Anadarko operates block 1 offshore Mozambique and Eni the neighbouring block 4. The firms have been in negotiations on a field unitisa- tion agreement to fully develop their significant gas discoveries. They will build common onshore LNG facilities in Cabo Delgado province as part of the deal. Anadarko estimates that there is sufficient gas offshore Mozambique for up to 60mn t/yr of LNG capacity, based on a 12-train facility.
