China targets improved air quality

China’s government has outlined new targets to improve the country’s air quality, aiming to reorganise its energy-intensive industrial sector to curb greenhouse gas emissions and harness cleaner energy. Beijing aims by 2017 to cut the country’s main indicator of air pollution by 10pc nationally and 25pc in the worstaffected area of the capital and its surrounding regions.
