French strikes cause fuel shortages

Industrial action in France, part of broader trade union protests against proposed changes to labour laws, has forced a number of refineries to shut down and resulted in fuel shortages across the country. Total has had to close four refineries with a combined capacity of 660,000 b/d, while operating rates have been reduced at the 160,000 b/d La Mede facility, with products unable to leave.
