摘要

Iraq is sticking with plans to increase crude production capacity to as much as 6mn b/d by 2020, despite fiscal constraints that have prompted foreign upstream operators to cut their development budgets. Iraq’s output, including production from the semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan, is around 4.5mn b/d, state-owned marketer Somo’s director-general, Falah al-Amri, says. Capacity is 4.9mn b/d and the 2020 target is still feasible if foreign oil companies’ investments continue, he says. But production has fallen since January’s record high of 4.78mn b/d, al-Amri says, attributing the drop to a 175,000 b/d reduction from Kirkuk, partly because of a continuing dispute between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). Power supply problems in southern Iraq have cut output by 50,000-70,000 b/d at times, he says.
