Russia’s Bashneft draws second suitor

Previously unknown Russian oil firm Tatneftegaz has emerged as a potential buyer of a majority stake in state-controlled Bashneft, which the Kremlin hopes to sell to help plug its budget deficit. Tatneftegaz has offered $6bn for 75pc of Bashneft ordinary shares-a $1.2bn premium to its market capitalisation.
