ConocoPhillips cuts 10pc of jobs

US independent ConocoPhillips will reduce its global workforce by 10pc, or about 1,800 jobs, because of lower oil prices and expectations for an extended downturn in the industry. The largest percentage of job cuts will be in North America, with 500 positions out of 3,750 staff in Houston facing redundancy, while 500 positions will go in Canada, including 100 contractors.
