US offers Gulf acreage

The US Bureau of Ocean Energy Man-agement(BOEM)will offer 40mn acres(161,875km2)for lease in the eastern and central US Gulf of Mexico on 19 March.BOEM will hold sepa-rate lease sales for the two regions. Lease sale 231 will cover 7,507 blocks encompassing 39.6mn acres in the central Gulf.BOEM estimates produc-tion from that acreage could total 1bn bl of oil and 4 trillion ft3(113bn m3) of gas.
