Crude prices back down

Crude prices retreated from six-month highs, but are supported by supply disruptions and economic recovery. Atlantic basin benchmark North Sea Dated fell by over $1/bl to below $111/bl in the week to 22 August, while US marker September WTI shed over $2/bl to end at just over $105/bl. North Sea Dated hit an intra-week high of above $112/bl on 16 August — its highest since February — before falling back. But weaker prompt prices belie a more stable structure further forward.
