NCOC promises Kashagan start-up this year

The consortium developing Kazakh- stan’s 11bn bl Kashagan field insists that production will start this year, despite widespread scepticism. Project operator North Caspian Oper- ating (NCOC) public affairs manager Hans Wenk could not specify the start date, saying only “the consortium is more than convinced that production will begin in 2013”. NCOC this week released a project start-up sequence as part of its announcement that the field will come on stream this year.
