US sanctions Syria’s Sytrol

The US is sanctioning Syrian state- owned oil company Sytrol for allegedly swapping nearly 242,000 bl of gasoline with Iran for diesel in April. The gaso- line shipments were valued at $36mn, far above the thresholds of $1mn for individual transactions and $5mn for deals over a 12-month period that can trigger sanctions under US law.
