Liquids decline weighs on majors’ growth targets

The failure of the majors to halt a decline in their liquids production continues to cap profits and is making output targets look increasingly untenable. The majors’ combined liquids production in the first half of the year was 3pc lower than the same period last year, with divestments, unplanned shutdowns and natural field decline offsetting production from new projects.
