‘No restart date’ for Kashagan

There is no restart date for Kazakh-stan’s 11bn bl Kashagan field, operator NCOC says, dismissing dates reported in the media as “purely speculative”. The root cause of the 9 October shut-down is still unclear. The immediate cause was sulphide stress, NCOC says. Kashagan oil and gas has a high hydro-gen sulphide content and pipelines were designed with this in mind.
