The US Senate is turning increasingly hawkish towards Iran. While acknowl- edging that economic sanctions targeting Iran’s uranium enrichment programme may be having some effect in prodding Tehran to return to the bargaining table, a core group of senators are talking openly about the possibility of a sus- tained military assault to stop Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.
