Gazprom claims Nord Stream 2 breakthrough

Russia’s state-controlled Gazprom has reached an informal agreement with Slovak pipeline operator Eustream that could facilitate the delivery of natural gas through the planned 55bn m3/yr Nord Stream 2 line to central Europe. The deal covers use of the Slovak network-already a transit route to Austria and Italy for Russian gas supplied through Ukraine-once Nord Stream 2 is operational, Gazprom chief executive Alexei Miller says, without revealing further details of the discussions. But no formal documents have been signed and the firms have only provisionally agreed entry points for Russian gas to be received after 2019.
