Idemitsu delays Showa Shell merger

Japanese refiner Idemitsu has been forced to delay a planned April 2017 merger with rival Showa Shell after opposition from Idemitsu’s founding family. Idemitsu and Showa Shell have put off the planned merger to secure extra time for discussions with opposing shareholders.
