UK North Sea operators’ profitability collapses

Companies operating in the UK North Sea made a net rate of return of just 0.6pc in the fourth quarter of last year, according to UK statistics office ONS, as lower oil and gas prices took their toll. It was the lowest quarterly figure since the ONS began keeping records in 1997 and below the revised 1.3pc in the third quarter and 8.8pc in the fourth quarter of 2014.
