Nigerian consortium Niger Delta West- ern has agreed in principle to buy a 45pc stake in Nigerian onshore block 34 that Shell jointly owns with Total and Italy’s Eni. NNPC will retain its 55pc stake in the block and will become operator. Niger Delta Western unites Niger Delta Exploration and Pro- duction, Walter Smith Petroleum and Switzerland-based Petrolin.
