Chevron rejects asset embargo

Chevron has rejected legal action taken against the company’s Argentinian assets as part of $19bn in compensation awarded by an Ecuador court relating to alleged rainforest pollution prior to 1993 by Texaco, which the US firm acquired in 2001. An Argentinian judge ordered an embargo of Chevron’s assets in Argentina until the compensation is reached.
