Russia’s state-controlled Gazprom has warned that it could halt development of strategically important fields if Mos- cow’s proposed gas mineral extraction tax rise goes ahead this month. The company could give up development of the Bovanenkovo field, the third, fourth and fifth Achim formations of the Urengoi field as well as development of the Chayandinskoye field, tax policy director Karen Oganyan said at a 3 October hearing in the upper chamber of parliament.
