Refiners ride high on strong margins

Strong gasoline refining margins boosted profits for most of the leading US refiners in the second quarter. And continued high gasoline demand, supported by low retail prices and strengthening employment figures, could prolong the benign refining environment. US gasoline retail prices in the second quarter were $1/USG lower than in the same period a year earlier.
