Egypt pays down BG debt

BG received $350mn from the Egyptian government, following Cairo’s commitment to repay outstanding debts to the energy industry, the UK firm says. The latest payment reduces BG’s receivables balance in Egypt to around $1.2bn. BG is still in discussions with the government on how to resolve a gas shortage issue that is reducing LNG production, although the firm still expects LNG shipments to be “very limited” in the short term.
